I have decided to start a new segment called “Homework.” I plan on adding home maintenance tips for homeowners or for when you decide to sell your home. Just simple things that make the sale of your home easier on you. Day to day upkeep items that you can do all year long so that they do not pile up and become overwhelming. Maintaining your investment is key to success in any housing market. I hope these blog entries help!
Here’s the first one of the series.
First impressions go a long way. Simple things can lead the eye in the right direction from the start. When I am showing homes, my buyers follow me up to the front door and wait while I unlock the lock box and grab the key to the house. This process only takes a couple of minutes, but it is enough time for the buyers to notice the condition of the front door. That is a first impression that can have a huge effect on the rest of the home tour. If that door has peeling paint, a cracked window or even is just dirty, we are off to a rocky start. The buyers think, “what’s the rest of this house like if the DOOR looks like this?” My advice to sellers is have the door looking its best. Sometimes that means simply cleaning it, it sometimes means repairing cracks and repainting or staining, it could mean total replacement. But it definitely could mean the difference between a uninterested buyer or a sale!
Something to consider here in my new segment, “Homework” (Get it? Home-work…)
